Email: nahuelvarela88@gmail.com                                                 nahuelvarela88@hotmail.com

Biography

Nahuel Varela is a teacher and graduate in physical education from the National University of La Matanza. After graduating he became a professor at that university. He is currently completing his Master's Degree in Sports Training and Development at the National University of Lomas de Zamora, investigating the didactic strategies used by physical education teachers in middle school. He has participated in congresses and conferences at national and international level in the last 10 years, sharing with colleagues from AIESEP and FIEP worldwide.

During the last years he has dedicated himself to conducting trainings, courses and talks on didactics of physical education in middle school. Much of the theory used is related to the TGfU for application in physical education classes. In addition, he works as a physical education teacher in middle schools in La Matanza, in the Province of Buenos Aires.

In sports, he has been involved in Futsal (male and female) at different ages. From adolescence to senior divisions, he promoting the incorporation of TGfU in training sessions. Mainly, he has been concerned with teaching through games for understanding to articulate with the teaching of sports techniques, considering that tactics are very important in the development of players.

His interests are focused on the permanent review of the curricula of teacher training in physical education, to make proposals. Considering that the TGfU are very important for sports training and for school physical education, he has proposed to teach future professionals. The final objective is to propose didactic models different from the traditional ones, so that the subjects can carry out a critical pedagogy in the teaching of physical education.

Mission Statement

The incorporation of the TGfU in my country is a very big challenge, which I take with great responsibility. From my work in teacher training and approaching different institutions connected with sport, I will try to expand the TGfU. The proposals for incorporating the didactics of physical education related to the TGfU will be one of the actions that I will deepen in talks and courses.

Goals and Mission:

  1. Promote physical education based on teaching through play. From kindergarten and elementary school. But mostly in middle school, with teenagers.
  2. Expand the knowledge of the TGfU in the country's universities, so that teachers know the importance of implementing critical pedagogical models.
  3. Create a network of professionals to add teachers who work with the TGfU, from the physical education and sports institutions that already exist in Argentina.
  4. Propose lines of research on the TGfU in different universities and institutions.
