Applying TGfU

TGfU is being applied in a number of different ways around the world. For example, TGfU is being used in coaching education, curriculum implementation and fostering social development.

This section features various examples of how TGfU is being applied in the field. If you wish to share a project that is using TGfU, please contact: jmandigo@brocku.ca.

El Salvador - Salud Escolar Integral

A project developed by Brock University that uses TGfU to foster the development of life skills to combat youth violence.
Salud Escolar IntegralThe Salud Escolar Integral program in El Salvador is focused around using sport and physical education as a tool to combat youth violence by focusing on the development of life skills. TGfU, as an humanistic and learner centred approach to games, is an ideal mechanism to foster the understanding of life skills.

Sport has been internationally recognized as a tool that can be used to promote positive development. The Salud Escolar Intergral project represents a partner program between researchers, educators and government organizations within Canada and El Salvador who are committed to using sport and physical activity towards the healthy development of people, communities and nations.

One of the main events of the program has been the Unity Games. An estimated 4000+ students in El Salvador have participated in the Unity Games since 2007.
