BiographyMr Kam Wai Keung Kevin was a football player and was inspired by his coach and teachers to be a Physical Education (PE) teacher. He completed his PE teacher training from Northcote College of Education. He holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree from the University of Liverpool and a Master of Education degree from the University of Hong Kong. He is currently undertaking his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Queensland which seeks to explore the professional development of beginning PE teachers in Hong Kong from a qualitative research. Kevin joined the University in 1998. He had been the Assistant Secretary General of the 3rd Teaching Games for Understanding International Conference 2005 held in Hong Kong. Kevin specializes in pedagogy and professional development culture of PE teachers and coaches. He is teaching Curricular and pedagogical studies in PE, philosophical and historical foundations of PE and sports. He can also teach a wide variety of sports skills, like soccer, golf, physical fitness. His other academic interests include outdoor experiential learning, service learning, promoting wellness concept in the community and teaching soccer and golf.
Kevin is currently the Associate Head of Department (Learning and Teaching) and a Field Experience Coordinator for the programme of Bachelor of Education (Honours) in PE and Post-graduate Diploma in Education (Primary) and (Secondary), Physical Education. He has an established track record in developing professional development of PE teachers by researching the use of different teaching and curriculum models, developing a learning community by organizing PE teacher conference, and professional development by action research in physical education. He recently developed a new innovative professional development programme on STEM in PE for PE teachers. The membership of the TGfU provides an international impact on the development of TGfU from Hong Kong PE teachers. He is also currently the Secretary of Hong Kong PE Association Mission Statement |
