The TGfU Special Interest Group was proudly represented at the AIESEP 2026 Conference in Taiwan through a range of impactful scholarly and professional activities.

During the conference, Dr Aspasia Dania, Dr Naoki Suzuki, Dr Harvey Anderson, Dr Alan Ovens, and Mr Jie He represented the TGfU SIG in a symposium entitled: “Re-Play: Whose Games, Whose Learning? Interdisciplinary Provocations on Game-Based Approaches in Physical Education and Sport.” The symposium brought together international perspectives to critically explore contemporary game-based approaches in physical education and sport, stimulating rich discussion on learning, pedagogy, and the future of games teaching.

In addition, members of the TGfU SIG International Advisory Board (IAB) under the facilitation of Dr Jeroen Koekoek led a pre-conference workshop entitled: “Moving Towards Game-Based Approaches: Fostering Games Teaching Practice.”
The workshop provided participants with opportunities to engage with practical and research-informed strategies for implementing game-based pedagogies across diverse educational contexts.

We are also delighted to celebrate a significant achievement for our community. Dr. Aspasia Dania has been elected to the Board of the International Association for Physical Education in Higher Education (AIESEP) for the 2026–2030 term. This appointment strengthens the voice of game-based approaches within the international physical education community.

The TGfU SIG thanks all colleagues who contributed to the success and visibility of our SIG at AIESEP 2026. We look forward to continuing to advance game-based learning through collaboration, research, and practice across the global community.
